The planned EllaLink cable between Europe and South America has a new branch in the works. The Government of Mauritania has signed an agreement to bring a bit of that capacity ashore to boost its global connectivity. [Read more →]

The data center giant Equinix made an interesting move this week to better tap into the needs of hyperscalers. They have teamed up with the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC to form a new JV focused on building ‘xScale’ data centers in Europe. [Read more →]

In a blog post over the weekend, Google introduced plans for yet another private subsea cable system. The Equiano cable will hug the western coastline of Africa, and is named after the Nigerian author and activist Olaudah Equiano. [Read more →]

This morning Uniti Group responded in defense of its lease payments from Windstream after filings from UMB Bank NA and U.S. Bank NA. According to the Wall Street Journal on Friday, these creditors are seeking to have Windstream withold its $54M in monthly rent to Uniti for its fiber network. [Read more →]

On Friday, Zayo picked up some international enterprise business. An unnamed ‘leading global investment bank’ has picked the Boulder-based company’s infrastructure to expand its network capabilities. [Read more →]
