Tuesday Bytes: Sertex, Archtop, FLAG

Some middle mile, some last mile, and some subsea:

Up in Maine, Sertex says it is rolling trucks in support of MOOSE Net. Construction has begun on Segment 1, which will be a middle mile route between Bangor and Calais. Calais sits on the Canadian border and is the northern terminus of the East Coast Greenway, a bike and pedestrian pathway that reaches all the way down the coast to Key West.

Archtop Fiber has officially launched its last mile services in another market up in New York’s Hudson Valley region. They are now offering 10Gbps symmetrical broadband to 1,500 homes and businesses in Sand Lake, which is about 15 miles east of Albany. They just started the project 6 weeks or so ago, so I’m sure they aren’t done yet. ArchTop Fiber has been building out across a range of similar communities in upstate New York.

And FLAG will be getting a new CEO this fall. Paul Abfalter, currently the company’s Chief Strategy & Revenue Officer, has been appointed as the next CEO, taking over from industry veteran Carl Grivner. Grivner has led the company since 2020, through the transition from being a piece of Reliance over to an independent provider owned by 3i Infrastructure. The new appointment will take effect on October 1, and Grivner will shift up to become non-executive chairman at that time.
