Inter.link Taps euNetworks for pan-European Backbone Expansion

euNetworks revealed a continent-wide transport win over in Europe this morning, taking advantage of the reach they have steadily built themselves over the last decade. Inter.link will be leveraging their infrastructure in a big way as it ramps up its international presence, starting with Europe.

Founded about 5 years ago with a Berlin metro fiber ring by Theo Voss and Marc Korthaus, Inter.link has a truly global expansion planned for 2023. In June they hooked up multiple German markets, and over the next few months they will go pan-European. By autumn they will be reaching over to North America, and by the end of the year to key markets in APAC.

But first things first, and they have signed a longhaul transport deal with euNetworks that will take them through Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, the UK and Ireland. euNetworks will also be supplying metro dark fiber in Berlin, Frankfurt, and Vienna. It basically leverages every infrstructure expansion project that euNetworks has completed over the last decade and a half in some form, whether it’s over to Dublin, into Scandinavia, over into Eastern Europe, through the Alps to Milan, or southwest to Madrid.

Inter.link is looking to build next generation, automated infrastructure with an eye toward carbon neutrality. Both euNetworks and Inter.link have aggressive ESG programs, with sustainability being a key goal in infrastructure projects. That makes them natural partners for this sort of expansion project.

No doubt we will be hearing more from Inter.link this year, as they will need to tap other local partners for North America and APAC, and also subsea providers to get there in the first place.
