FTTH Roundup: Breezeline, Consolidated, Dobson, Myakka

Four FTTH expansion projects across three states to keep up with as we close out this week in mid-July:

Consolidated Communications is taking its Fidium Fiber effort deeper into the capital of New Hampshire. They now pass some 27,000 homes in Concord, offering plans up to 2Gbps symmetric. We had Consolidated’s Erik Garr here to talk about their FTTH efforts and Fidium rollout earlier this year.

Meanwhile Breezeline has also been busy in the Granite state. The cable operator is expanding its own FTTH footprint into the New Hampshire cities of Dover and Madbury. Breezeline also has plans to expand into Durham later this year. Atlantic Broadband was rebranded as Breezeline to start this year after the acquisition of WOW’s markets in Ohio.

Dobson Fiber continues to add new markets to its FTTH footprint. This week they broke ground out in the Oklahoma town of Guthrie, building out a network that will support up to 10Gbps to residents. They are offering residential fiber in a dozen Oklahoma and Arkansas markets, with another 10 commitments in place so far.

And Myakka Communications is working with DZS down in southwestern Florida. As part of a stimulus grant the two are deploying symmetric 1Gbps to Myakka City and the surrounding area of eastern Manatee County. Myakka Communications started out as a WISP but over the last decade has built out fiber instead.
