Another M&A for FirstLight, This Time in NY’s North Country

February 12th, 2020 by · Leave a Comment

FirstLight has found itself another acquisition target within its northeastern footprint. Yesterday they announced a definitive agreement to acquire the regional network operator PrimeLink.

PrimeLink operates a fiber network in the far northeastern corner of New York, including Plattsburgh, Glens Falls, Queensbury, Albany & Lake Champlain Corridor. They also reach north into Montreal and have a presence in areas along the Canadian border. That footprint fits well with FirstLight’s supraregional network throughout the upper Northeast, giving them depth and diversity in a region with few competitors.

FirstLight’s ability to tuck in more acquisitions in this region for so long after buying both the obvious and less obvious targets has been quite amazing. In the past year they have also bought ColoSpace, Main Fiber Company, and Todd Cable Construction. None of those were huge deals, but this sort of thing adds up.
