A few items from the last few days to catch up with:
BT has completed an upgrade of its public WAN in Scotland. The public sector project involved upgraded connectivity at 5000+ public sector sites across the country, indluding government offices, libraries, transport hubs, schools, and a range of medical facilities. It’s part of a £350M, six year contract awarded back in 2023.
Boldyn Networks has picked up another significant campus network deal. Radford University in southwestern Virginia has selected Boldyn to design, build, and operate a new residential network across 44 buildings for some 3,000 students. The modernization project will enable 24/7 connectivity uniformly across the campus and provide built-in hardware lifecycle management.
Gateway Fiber has closed on some significant new financing. They have issued $333M in asset-backed securities and raised a $245M development financing facility. The proceeds will help refinance existing debt and help fund growth initiatives. Gateway has been building out FTTx infrastructure in Minnesota, Massachusetts, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kansas, Michigan, and North Dakota.
And PNK’s plans for a data center project in central Pennsylvania passed a key threshold late last week. The Gregg Township Board of Supervisors granted conditional-use approval for the project in a 3-0 vote, which would convert an existing warehouse into a 478,000 square foot data center. It is a tough environment right now but PNK has been actively engaging the community, and has been making changes based on community feedback.
