NEC to Build SJC2

NEC says it has signed an agreement with the Southeast Asia–Japan 2 consortium to build a new submarine cable system to complement the existing SJC cable. The SJC2 cable will stretch 10,500km from Singapore to Japan, hooking up Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, and Korea along the way. [Read more →]

UPN to Buy Level 3’s Albuquerque Metro Footprint

In the second such transaction to land this week, Unite Private Networks has announced an agreement to buy the former Level 3 metro footprint in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The deal adds a substantial footprint in the city spanning several hundred route miles and several hundred on-net buildings to UPN’s reach. Industry Spotlight: Tom Brown Takes the Helm at DataGryd
