A significant fiber deal landed this morning out in the Midwest. Everstream has announced that it has reached an agreement to sell substantially all of its operations to Bluebird Fiber. The deal would combine two of the largest regional independent fiber builder/operators. [Read more →]

Zain Omantel is making a terrestrial longhaul fiber move to connect the Middle East to Europe. Today they announced a strategic agreement with Horizon Scope Telecom and the Iraqi Telecommunications and Information Company go connect the heart of the Middle East with Europe without passing through the Red Sea or the Mediterranean. Late last week there was a major deal in the communications world, specifically the cable side of things. Charter and Cox have announced a definitive agreement to merge their businesses in a deal that values the privately held Cox at $34.5B. In an announcement yesterday, DE-CIX and Connected Nation Internet Exchange Points celebrated the groundbreaking of an IXP. The new interconnection point will on the Innovation Campus of Wichita State University and could be a blueprint of things to come.
