Three interesting infrastructure projects on three continents, one longhaul, one metro, and one campus:
Vocus is investing in some new longhaul fiber down under as part of its Australian Digital Infrastructure Platform. They will be connecting Brisbane, Townsville, and Darwin all back to Sydney and Melbourne. It’s a 4,000km route on which they plan to put in 3,456 fiber strands. It will take a bit of time though, with the RFS date projected to be 2030.
FLAG is looking for some metro reach in the southeastern hub of Singapore. They have tapped Xenith Infrastructure Group for additional dark fiber routes connecting their landing station with key destinations within Singapore proper. Xenith IG operates 458km of metro dark fiber connecting 38 on-net data centers across the market. They also have metro fiber in Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Johor Bahru, and Kuala Lumpur.
And Cisco picked up some business in the college sports world. Notre Dame Athletics has tapped them for a multi-year partnership to modernize their network. Notre Dame is looking to revamp its technology base to support AI applications and other future device loads. The deal will see 1K new swtches across the company’s South Bend campus.
