Wednesday Bytes: FiberLight, 365 Data Centers, MEgaport, Colt, Lumen

Some regional fiber, some cloud connectivity, and some enterprise internet:

FiberLight has some 300 route miles of plans for its West Texas footprint. They have announced an expansion project that will start in Midland TX and travel west toward El Paso. The initial phase will build out high capacity duct and fiber from Pecos to McNary, with completion targeted in late 2027. At the same time they will be overbuilding a 50-mile segment south from Monahans past Fort Stockton. A third later phase may extend connectivity into Las Cruces, New Mexico with an eye all the way toward Phoenix, Arizona.

365 Data Centers and Megaport are expanding their partnership. The colo and cloud provider and the interconnection and NaaS provider are adding nine more Megaport PoPs within 365 facilities. They are building upon their existing footprint with new nodes in Fort Lauderdale, Detroit, Chicago, Commack NY, Philadelphia (Market Street), Rancho Cordova CA, Richardson TX, Smyrna GA, and Herndon VA.

Colt Technology Services and Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud are teaming up over in Europe. Colt has announced connectivity to OCI Fast Connect in both Frankfurt and Madrid. They’ll use that to better serve enterprises that need to tap into the Oracle Cloud locally, meeting needs for digital sovereignty. It’s an expansion of an existing relationship in the US, the Middle East, and other locations in Europe.

And Lumen Technologies is enhancing its enterprise internet offerings. The new model adds on-demand bandwidth, digital control, and predictable costs, helping enterprises move on from buying access as fixed capacity in a rapidly changing world. Early customers of the new service are iVision, SABIS, Skyway Studios, and the New York Yankees. The Yankees, for instance, can turn up the bandwidth at the stadium on game days and then cut it back when the team is out of town.
