Four bits of expansion news from around the industry over in Europe:

Kao Data has a significant new tenant at its Harlow campus to the northeast of London. The AI cloud company Nebius is coming in with a 10-year, 22MW deployment that will target AI innovation in the UK’s academic and research communities. Part of the capacity will go toward the Nebius Token Factory, a production-scale inference platform. The deployment will leverage 100% renewable energy and direct-to-chip liquid cooling.

Xantaro, Nokia, and GoFibre are accelerating a fiber rollout in Scotland. Xantaro is helping deploy fully integrated street cabinets, Nokia’s optical line terminals, and managed services aimed at expanding GoFibre’s fiber footprint. GoFibre is moving on two Project Gigabit contracts backed by £130M in government funding. When complete the expansion will double the company’s reach.

Fibernet Finland and InCoax Networks have been busy rolling out access to a range of multi-dwelling units. They have now connected 150 apartment buildings, leveraging the existing coaxial infrastructure already in place and delivering symmetrical 1Gbps connectivity. Fibernet Finland has been around since 2019 and has 50K properties in its sights.

And BT has signed on with Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, becoming the first UK company to do so publicly. They are looking to improve protection against cybersecurity threats by leveraging Anthropic’s Claude Mythos Preview and stay on the frontiers of AI capabilities. This one of several AI-enabled security efforts by BT, which also include a collaboration with Accenture.
