DC BLOX Plots New Georgia Hyperscale Campus

December 13th, 2023 by · Leave a Comment

DC BLOX says it will be building a new hyperscale data center campus and supporting fiber infrastructure in Georgia. They have acquired 72 acres of land in Conyers, a half-hour’s drive east of Atlanta, and secured incentives from Rockdale County.

Plans call for a total of 750,000 square feet and 216MW of capacity at full buildout. That’s a lot of space and power, but the first phase will start things off with 160,000 square feet. If all goes well, that much will be ready about two years from now.

In support of that infrastructure, DC BLOX says it will build a dark fiber ring around Atlanta. That will offer connectivity to other metro and regional destinations, including that landing station the company has been busy building in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

DC BLOX, Conyers, and Rockdale County hope the project will lead to further ecosystem development in the area. It’s an ambitions project, but with the rise of demand from the direction of AI and Machine learning in the hyperscale community, the time may be ripe.
