Boldyn Makes a Deal For EDZCOM

November 13th, 2023 by · Leave a Comment

Last week ended with some interesting consolidation in the area of private wireless networks. Boldyn Networks has announced an agreement to acquire EDZCOM from Cellnex, which is their private networks business unit. EDZCOM’s team will help Boldyn flesh out its depth in Western Europe and set the stage for growth across the region.

Boldyn Networks was formed this past summer in through the merger of BAI Communications, Transit Wireless, ZenFi Networks, Mobilitie, Vilicom, and Signal Point Systems. Given the diverse set of assets the company runs, just which directiosn the combined company might focus its efforts on has been something to watch for. The inorganic move to acquire EDZCOM suggests that one of the most important directions will be within the growing space of 5G private networks.

Part of the allure for Boldyn is the geographical fit. EDZCOM started out in Finland and has a strong presence there and in the UK, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and France, while Boldyn’s strengths ahs been in the UK, Ireland, and Italy. EDZCOM feels like a business that could have already fit with the original portfolio that Boldyn was born from, and thus the integration looks like it will have a similar feel.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024.
