Four items from overseas and one from right next door:
Arelion is changing out its top leadership. The global network operator has appointed former BICS CEO Daniel Kurgan as its new President and CEO. Kurgan takes over from Staffan Göjeryd, who guided the company’s spinoff from Telia and subsequent transformation, topics he discussed here on Telecom Ramblings not so long ago. Göjeryd will step down and leave Arelion, and no doubt will reappear in some new project somewhere in the space before too long.
CMC Networks has won another enterprise deal over in Africa. Bowmans, one of South Africa’s “Big Five” law firms with seven offices across the continent, will be tapping CMC to make the switch from MPLS to SD-WAN. CMC will be providing its DIA services along with internet access from a third party as a backup, leveraging SD-WAN technology from Juniper. Bowmans will also be taking up rack space in CMC’s data center footprint to hook it all together securely.
Ribbon says it has picked up a mobile voice customer. Portugal-based 1GLOBAL will be deploying Ribbon’s SBC-SWe solution across its global voice network in order to ensure quality of service from 3G/4G up through 5G. 1GLOBAL was founded last year, and operates a footprint across 12 countries, 9 of which as an MVNO.
Cologix and CIM Group have completed a buildout up in Toronto. TheScalelogix TOR4 data center is a joint venture between the two companies and is now ready for service. A significant portion has been pre-leased by an unnamed ‘major global business anchor tenant’. TOR4 spans 50,000 square feet on a 3.4-acre campus.
And back in the US, I missed this one from earlier this month. Lightpath has partnered up with my own state’s NHL hockey team. The New Jersey Devils and the Prudential Center where they play will be leveraging Lightpath’s network for connectivity. Lightpath’s infrastructure will help provide connectivity for operations and events at the arena in the Meadowlands.
