Wednesday Roundup: EdgeCore, HE,, Kolibric, Breezeline, CoreSite

August 30th, 2023 by · Leave a Comment

Four bits of network expansion news, both domestic and international.

EdgeCore has lined up some new bandwidth for its Silicon Valley data center footprint. Zayo has extended its fiber footprint onto the company’s new campus in Santa Clara. EdgeCore has 72MW of power and 540,000 square feet of space planned for this expansion, which is going to require plenty of bandwidth as well.

Hurricane Electric has added another PoP to its global IPv6 network in the southern hemisphere. They have expanded into Argentina for the first time with a new location at 128 Suipacha in downtown Buenos Aires, a data center operated by Servicios y Telecomunicaciones. From there they will have direct connectivity available to both the Buenos Aires IXP and even FL-IX via subsea cable. It’s HE’s 8th location in South America so far. and Kolibric Telecom are expanding their low latency connectivity partnership to include new projects on new continents. After delivering their Istanbul/Frankfurt route, they are looking at routes in the Americas also targeted at cloud-based applications, content, and gaming. Nothing specific has yet been described, but I suspect there is a route on the drawing board somewhere.

And the cable provider Breezeline is upgrading its connectivity with new onramps. They have deployed a new presence with CoreSite in Chicago, from which they will leverage CoreSite’s peering services to exchange IP traffic and to reach major cloud and content companies. The arrangement expands on an existing relationship, as Breezeline already works with CoreSite in Miami, Atlanta, and Washington DC.
