EXA Infrastructure and EllaLink are teaming up for a new transatlantic service between South America and Europe. The two companies have complementary footprints, and by working together they have pieced together a diverse route between the two continents.
EllaLink’s new cable connects Fortaleza, Brazil with Sines, Portugal, where it now hooks directly into EXA’s pan-European fiber. The combined route spans some 9,120km and bypasses North America. Meanwhile, EllaLink and EXA are also collaborating on the Olisipo project connecting the main data centers and landing stations in Portugal itself.
EXA also says its network investments in 2023 include 20 approved projects that will add 10,940km of new footprint. Other than the above investments in the Iberian peninsula, the projects include investments in the Balkans, Italy, France, Italy, Switzerland, and others. The company says it has committed a total of €210 to such network investments since the company’s launch in September 2021.
