Wednesday Roundup: EX2, DE-CIX, Ezee, Web Werks

Three interesting expansion projects and one data center acquisition:

EX2 is taking aim at the state of Arizona. They have announced a partnership with Arizona Public Service Co. to commercialize fiber infrastructure along APS rights of way. Over a 3-year term they will be able to market dark fiber, conduit, regen and colo space, laterals, access points, etc to those needing such infrastructure across 2,700 route miles of infrastructure.

DE-CIX has further expanded its IX fabric out in Chicago. They have deployed a switch at Cyxtera’s data center in 350 E. Cermak, which will also enable interconnection with Cyxtera’s other two Chicago-area data centers. DE-CIX’s efforts in Chicago are following in the footsteps of successful expansions in New York and Dallas.

Ezee Fiber has broken ground on a new network buildout down in Texas in the Houston metro area. They are building out a residential access network in Carlton Woods, an exclusive gated community in The Woodlands. Ezee Fiber acquired ICTX WaveMedia last year, and operates 2000+ route miles across greater Houston.

And some data center M&A took place this week over in India. Web Werks says it has acquired an industrial building in Whitefield, Bengaluru, an emerging data center market inland in southern India. They will convert it into a 110,000 square foot, 10MW facility, with the first phase to be ready in Q4. Web Werks and Iron Mountain formed a JV to better take on the Indian data center marketplace early in 2021.
