A couple of upgrades, a new PoP, and some new capital:
Colt and Ciena are opening up the L-band for 800G. The two have announced what they bill as the first network provider deployment of L-band 800G across a terrestrial network. The upgrade leverages Ciena’s RLS, MCP, and WaveLogic 5 Extreme coherent optics can potentially double the capacity of a single fiber pair. The L-band uses longer wavelengths of 1565-1625nm than the more the more traditional C-band.
DE-CIX India is expanding its IX reach with the yelp of Yotta Infrastructure. They have deployed a new PoP at Yotta NM1 in Panvel, 15 miles to the east of downtown Mumbai. Tenants at the facility will benefit from one-hop cloud connectivity and internet peering. DE-CIX India operates four IXs in India in the metros of Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata.
ADTRAN has picked up a customer out in the Rockies. The Colorado Springs-based provider StratusIQ will be using ADTRAN’s 10G fiber access platform and Combo PON technology as it upgrades its network infrastructure. StratusIQ is moving into XGS-PON symmetrical multi-gigabit services in order to better support IPTV and will deploy the new gear across its footprint this year.
TPx has raised some cash to back its growth plans. They have announced an equity investment of $70M in a round led by Siris Capital Group, while also refinancing and extending its senior debt. They’ll use the additional financial flexibility to transform its tech infrastructure an invest in its channel activities. The managed services provider named Rick Mace as its new CEO a few months ago as well.
