Colt Expands Spanish Reach

September 17th, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

Colt Technology Services has been busy on the Iberian peninsula in southern Europe.  The UK-based global network operator is adding some 22 new provinces to its reach within Spain.

Since July Colt has been building out its regional footprint into many of Spain’s second and third tiers of markets, a partial list of which includes Bilbao, San Sebastián, Granada, Pamplona, Vigo, Alicante, Toledo, Guadalajara, Valladolid, Burgos, Córdoba, Girona and Vitoria.  Colt had of course already had a metro footprint in Madrid and Barcelona as well as Valencia.  The company’s footprint has always had an extensive last mile presence, and today reaches some 27,000 on-net buildings globally.

The project started in July, so obviously they’ve found a partner and are leasing dark fiber or other connectivity to do this.  They did something similar in the larger US market recently, adding connectivity to data centers across 13 markets.  They then followed up with a launch of services to the multinational market there.
