In today’s roundup, an IX traffic milestone and three vendor wins to take a look at:

DE-CIX says that traffic on its internet exchange in Frankfurt has surpassed a new milestone. On Tuesday evening they saw peak traffic hit 4Tbps for the first and surely not the last time. These days DE-CIX is busy recreating its IX model in other markets, with Marseilles and Palermo joining New York recently on that list.

Forsythe Data Centers has picked Ciena’s packet-optical gear to hook up its new data center back to 350 East Cermak in Chicago. The new managed hosting facility in Elk Grove will open in May with 221,000 square feet of space.

Infinera was also busy the past few weeks out in the Midwest. Midcontinent Communications has deployed their DTN-X platform across its footprint for a 100G technology upgrade. Midcontinent operates 7,800 fiber-miles hooking up residential and business customers in Minnesota, the Dakotas, and Wisconsin.

And down in Atlanta, Crawford Media SErvices is going with ADVA’s gear. They’ve deployed the company’s transport solution to hook up their studios in Atlanta to a nearby colocation facility where they store customer data.
