Summit Infrastructure Group Launches

July 31st, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

With all the consolidation reducing the number of fiber network operators and builders in the space, it’s nice to see one get created now and then. Today Summit Infrastructure Group formally launched, specializing in dark fiber for data center connectivity.

Summit’s initial infrastructure is in Virginia, with plans to connect metro assets in Virginia Beach with others in Richmond, Manassas, and Ashburn area already underway. The company is led by former Intellifiber executive Bill Cook, who’s experience running fiber in this part of the country will obviously help.

I have added SummitIG’s network map to my regional fiber maps page, and perhaps they’ll supply some metro maps as well later on.
