Four interesting items from around the world:
There was a significant data center transaction in the APAC region yesterday. AirTrunk has announced a deal to purchase Lumina CloudInfra, a data center developer with 600MW of planned capacity in the pipeline. Lumina has depth in India, specifically in the hubs of Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Combined, AirTrunk will have over 3GW of operating and plannd capacity on 20 campuses in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and India.
Arelion is investing resources into its infrastructure in Denmark. The global network operator is upgrading its Nørre Nebel cable landing station and front/back-haul infrastructure to support more subsea cable landings driven by the demands of AI. Arelion will be leveraging diverse ducts from there to Copenhagen, including a subsea link from Aarhus on a northern route and passing Esbjerg and Kolding on a southern route.
Tampnet has tapped iBasis to help connect up maritime customers in both the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Tampnet specializes in subsea connectivity, including not just fiber but the data needs of offshore energy platforms, maritime workers, and cruise passengers. They have selected iBasis’s Roaming IPX suite, which includes 4G LTE and GRX transport as well as supporting services.
And Liquid Intelligent Technologies has raised $660M in a new debt financing round. The funding includes a $300M Eurobond that was overscribed by 2.5 times as well as a $210M ZAR syndicated term loan and a $150M USD term loan. Along with another $195 in equity coming from the parent company Cassava, that will help Liquid improve its balance sheet as it plots out the next stage of growth in its pan-African footprint.
