FTTx Roundup: Truvista, Race, GoNetSpeed, Brightspeed

Four bits of last mile expansion news to keep up with:

Truvista Fiber has made an inorganic move in the foothills of northern Georgia. They have acquired the municipal telecommunications network of the city of Commerce, and will be upgrading the city’s connectivity. The eal follows closely on Truvista’s deal for SlyTel a few months ago 

Race Communications has broken ground on a project in south-central California. They have begun construction in Bakersfield, where they are targeting 50K homes and businesses. The first customers should be online by the end of this summer. Race has alreacy connected more than half of Kern County. 

GoNetSpeed has unveiled plans to expand into two new communities in Connecticut. The northeastern independent fiber provider plans to build out to 8,600 residents in Derby and Shelton. That’s on the Housatonic river to the northwest of New Haven. GoNetSpeed is investing $4.2M in the project, which follows a recent $6M investment in Hamden. 

And Brightspeed offered another update on how its footprint-wide fiber expansion is going. They say they are 50% complete with their fiber buildout in Arkansas, where they have 101K homes and businesses passed. At completion they will pass some 202K locations.
