Two bits of last mile news and some cable landing activity south of the border:
MDC Data Centers has landed a significant deal south of the border. MDC will be designing, building, and operating two cable landing stations in Mexico for the MANTA subsea cable system. MANTA, which is backed by Sparkle, Gold Data, and Liberty Networks, will interconnect narkets in the USA, Central America, and Mexico, and MDC will be building the neutral landing facilities in both Cancún and Veracruz.
Blue Stream Fiber has landed a new partner in its quest to expand last mile services in across its footprint. They are teaming up with Associa, a residential community management specialist, as a new Associa Advantage partner. The arrangement will enable Blue Stream Fiber to more easily reach into managed communities as an option for fiber internet. Blue Stream Fiber operates in Florida and most recently in Texas.
And Brightspeed offered an update on its fiber buildout projects in the state of South Carolina. They have hit the 75% milestone, reaching some 47,000 homes and businesses. Construction is underway in Beaufort, Greenwood, Hampton, Jasper, Laurens, Orangeburg and Saluda counties, with launch near in Beaufort, Ware Shoals, Eutawville, Greenwood, Holly Hill and Saluda. Brightspeed is targeting some 66K homes and businesses across the state.
