An subsea upgrade, an AI infrastructure investment, a hyperscale lease, and a bit of M&A:
Trans Pacific Networks has tapped Ciena for an upgrade to its subsea infrastructure. TPN operates the Echo and Tabua cables, on which they will deploy Ciena’s WL6e and RLS technology. Echo connects the US with southeast Asia, while the new Tabua system connects the US to Australia and Fiji. The upgrade will allow TPN to deliver terabit wavelengths.
CoreWeave has raised another $2B from none other than NVIDIA. Coreweave has sold the chip maker $2B worth of common stock at $87.20 per share, which will go toward accelerating the buildout of 5GW of AI factory capacity. The deal gives NVIDIA a deeper presence within the other side of the infrastructure business, while helping smooth the runway ahead of its own demand funnel.
PowerHouse Data Centers has picked up a significant new lease in northern Virginia. They have announced a long term hyperscale lease at PowerHouse Arcola, their campus in Loudoun County. The 37-acre campus will have 2 two-story data centers totaling 615,000 square feet of space with 120MW of utility capacity and an on-site substation.
And there was a bit of M&A in the IoT and LoRaWAN space. Netmore Group has announced the acquisition of Parsi-based Actility. Actility’s specialty is low-power WAN solutions, and brings Netmore thousands of LoRaWAN deployments around the world. The combined company consolidates some 14M contracted IoT devices under Netmore’s management umbrella.
