Friday Roundup: Telehouse, DE-CIX, Infinera, GBI, Vapor IO

Two bits of interconnection news, an optical upgrade, and a new edge data center customer:

TELEHOUSE America has some new connectivity available at its NYIIX exchange out in Los Angeles. The Japanese cable system operator Tama Cable Network has hooked up to the IX, enhancing its network for the company’s customers with some US-based peering. TCN is leveraging NYIIX with the help of JPIX via some transpacific connectivity.

DE-CIX has launched another regional internet exchange market. The global IX operator has established its latest IX in the city of Leipzig, Germany. The first two nodes will be located in the data centers of envia TEL and PŸUR Business, both of which will resell DE-CIX’s IX services. DE-CIX operates six other IXs in Germany, which of course includes its flagship IX in Frankfurt.

Infinera’s gear is getting some exercise out in the Middle East. Gulf Bridge International is deploying their ICE technology to upgrade the company’s subsea and terrestrial networks. The upgrade adds capacity as well as capabilities like the company’s Capacity Protection Program, and helps prepare its infrastructure for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

And Vapor IO has a new customer for its Kinetic Grid platform. Hypersive will be leveraging Vapor IO’s edge infrastructure to better deliver its building management and security services, enabling the company to leverage the cloud while keeping the latency and performance levels its customers require. The deployment will start in Las Vegas and expand across six markets.
