Two bits of metro news, one M&A, and an outsourcing upgrade:

Enet has announced plans for some new metro fiber over in Dublin. The Irish open access network provider is putting €1.5m to work in a network expansion in and around St. Stephen’s Green, Merrion Square, Baggot Street, and the Sandyford Business Park. When complete, Enet’s Dublin footprint will span some 170km and bring a substantial number of business and enterprise customers within reach of its infrastructure. Enet operates 5,400km of fiber around the country.

Digital Crossroad and NYI are teaming up out in Chicagoland. The two are establishing a ring connecting Digital Crossroad’s DX-1 facility in Hammond, Indiana with 350 East Cermak in Chicago and NYI’s own facility in Oak Brook, IL. The ring will add new connectivity options for tenants in DX-1, an interesting facility built from the bones of the former State Line Generating Plant along the shore of Lake Michigan. We had Digital Crossroads CEO Peter Feldman here for a spotlight early on in that process.

The Champion ONE family of networking components has a new owner. The digital infrastructure specialist Legrand has acquired the C1 family of brands and operating assets from A&M Capital Opportunities. The deal includes lab, office, and warehouse locations in both Lake Forest CA and Independence, OH. C1’s technology will complement Legrand’s other technologies, some of which derive from earlier acquisitions of AFCO, Electrorack, Ortronics, Raritan, Server Technology, and Starline.

Ericsson has won a convert to its new Operations Engine over in the Middle East. Saudi Telecom Company will be deploying the managed services technology for automation along with AI and machine learning software to automate its services as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 plan. The marriage of modern automation with Ericsson’s network services outsourcing business looks like an interesting combination that we’ll be hearing more from.
