Two bits of interconnection and partnership news, one from Europe and one from southeast Asia:
DE-CIX has formed yet another IX joint venture, this time in southeast Asia. They have teamed up with International Gateway Co. Ltd. (IGC) to establish DE-CIX Thailand. The first order of business will be to build and operate DE-CIX Bangkok by extending their distributed ASEAN interconnection platform. That should be ready by the middle of next year, offering direct interconnection with their IXs in Singapore, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Jakarta.
RETN and Neterra are teaming up. RETN has opened a new PoP at Neterra’s Sofia Data Center in Bulgaria, increasing its depth in southeastern Europe. RETN now has 8 on-net PoPs in Sofia, whose status as an interconnection hub has been on the rise. Neterra, for its part, has signed on as an IP transit customer for RETN, which boosts its access to the latter’s European and Asian reach and generally adds route diversity.
