Three items of data center development interest:

We got a bit more information about the data center buildout Meta and BlackRock have been working on down in southwestern Texas yesterday. The two have officially announced a strategic venture to develop the project, with BlackRock holing an 80% interest. Meta will contribute land and construction-in-progress valued at $2.3B and BlackRock will contribute $4.9B in cash, while Meta will also get a $1B distribution to align ownership stakes. El Paso will be getting some 4K construction jobs and 300 operational jobs once complete, plus $500K to their public schools and $30M or so in workforce development.

Meanwhile, over in France, Orange and the global infrastructure investor Morrison have also unveiled a new joint venture, this one being of the 50/50 variety. The two will support development and enhancement of Orange’s existing data center portfolio in the country. Orange will shift 5 data centers across 4 campuses to the new entity, with Morrison’s resources going toward growing the platform. The transaction itself is expected to close in the first quarter of next year.

And Aligned Data centers has completed a $1.18B securitization financing. It’s the company’s first issuance in 3 years, and demand led to upsizing of it by 30% from an initial $905M. The transaction is backed by four of Aligned’s campuses and their customer bases. Aligned was recently bought by a consortium including AIP, MGX, and BlackRock’s GIP, and this will further broaden its investor base.
