Four expansion projects in four parts of the world to catch up with.
Elea is taking AI into the Amazon. The Brazilian-based data center provider has launched the construction of a new AI-neutral data center in Belém, Pará state with the help of AXIA Energia. That’s a port city on the coast and near the delta of the Amazon River itself. The facility will see operations start in the second quarter of 2027 with an initial capacity of 7.5MW. The project already has large anchor clients lined up and an eventual target of as much as 100MW. AXIA will supply the renewable energy from its nearby Miramar high-voltage substation.
DE-CIX is adding some European depth with a new IX in Sweden. They are deploying a new IX in the city of Stockholm, completing their Nordic set alongside exchanges in Norway, Denmark, and Finland that they added in 2023. DE-CIX Stockholm will go live in September of this year, and will be linked into DE-CIX’s global interconection ecosystems.
Tata Communications is upgrading its global network, specifically between India and Singapore. They are integrating a new subsea cable system between Mumbai and Singapore and will be investing in a new one between Chennai and Singapore. Both cables will hook into Tata’s terrestrial fiber network, reaching some 100+ data centers nationwide. Tata is preparing for demand from AI hubs in both Mumbai and Chennai as well as in the key global hub of Singapore.
And Epsilon is teaming up with ESpanix to meet demand in southern Europe. ESpanix’s hubs Madrid and Barcelona will connect up with Epsilon’s global footprint and its Infiny NaaS solutions. The partnership is looking to meet surging demand between destinations throughout the Iberian peninsula and broader global markets.
