Three bits of last mile news from the southern half of the US:
Ripple Fiber is moving into some new territory. The FTTx builder and operator has announced plans for Arizona, where they will be investing $80M. The initial build in Pima County will target 50K homes and businesses in Oro Valley, with Sahuarita to follow. We had Ripple Fiber CEO Greg Wilson here for a chat just a few months ago.
Lyte Fiber has raised some funds to accelerate its expansion. They have closed on a $175M construction loan facility, which includes an accordion feature. Lyte Fiber has buildouts at various states of completion in 20 markets across Texas. The funds will go toward those projects, but also potentially toward strategic acquisitions if the opportunity arises.
And Brightspeed’s tour of its progress across its footprint came back to its home turf in North Carolina. They have completed 60% of their fiber netwrok buildout in the state, which now reaches 736K homes and businesses out of a targeted 1.242M. Brightspeed has $90.6M in BEAD funding in the state that will target another 13,739 locations and $244M from the state aimed at another 109,689.
