Five colo related items from this week’s news:

EdgeCore has completed some financial moves to support the company’s projects in Sterling, Virginia. The financing is in the form of two limited-recourse senior secured term loans. The first will go toward AS01 and was structured as a Green Loan, which will see initial occupants move in in November. AS02 will then follow next July.

DataBank has tapped the financial markets again to fund its expansion project in the Dallas metro area. They have secured a $2B loan that will fund construction of the first three data centers at its campus in Read Oak. Those three facilities are already leased, and at full buildout the campus will hold 8 such facilities.

Denham Capital and its portfolio company Gray Oak Power will be opening a new front on the power side of things. Denham Capital has a new strategic partnership in place with First American Nuclear (FANCO), which specialized in small modular reactors. The idea is to provide cost-effective utility-scale power on-site.  I’ve wondered when such options would come up, but I also wonder how local communities might respond.

Tecto Data Centers is making a big move down in Latin America. They plan to invest as much as $2B over the next few years in the region. In 2026 they expect to launch five new data centers, including TPOA1 in Porto Alegre and TGRU1 in Santana de Parnaíba. Tecto operates 3 facilities in Fortaleza, one in Rio de Janeiro, and three in Barranquilla, Colombia.

And DE-CIX is expanding its presence at 60 Hudson Street in New York City. They have a new partnership with Quantum To Digital, which will give them links to four of the facility operators within the carrier hotel. QTD1 used to be Equinix NY8 prior to its sale to QTD Systems four years or so ago and re-imagined as a quantum-enabled data center.
