Monday Roundup: GPC, EXA, HGC, GlobalNet, DataBank

As everyone descends on National Harbor, Maryland for ITW this week, here’s some quick catch-up:

Great Plains Communications has been busy expanding its reach in both its home turf of Nebraska and in southeastern Indiana. In Nebraska they are in the middle of adding 1K passings in LaVista as well as another 1,500 in rural areas with grant support. In Indiana it is 1,200 additional locations in Aurora, Vevay, and other nearby towns, plus another 292 locations in underserved areas with the help of grants.

EXA Infrastructure is working with HGC to expand each company’s ability to reach customers around the world. The two have announced a new partnership that will enable each to leverage the other’s reach. EXA will gain greater depth in Asia, while HGC will see a boost to its reach in Europe and North America. Both companies are of course backed by I Squared Capital.

GlobalNet has continued its expansion to the east with a new point of presence in Warsaw, Poland. The additional PoP is located in Equinix’s WA1 data center and represents GlobalNet’s first move in the country. It follows recent expansions to Berlin, Germany and Sofia, Bulgaria and connects back to GlobalNet’s footprint in western Europe. Further expansions might be in the cards here, maybe closing the loop through the Baltics to Helsinki or to the south through Budapest etc.

And DataBank has officially launched its new campus in Orangeburg, up in Rockland County, NY. They held a dedication ceremony for LGA3, which is the start of infrastructure in the Hudson Valley aimed at the AI boom.  If all goes well it will be ready early next year with 200K square feet and 30MW of critical power. A second data center (LGA4) is also envisioned for the campus.
