Some M&A activity and some expansion work in the metro and regional arena:
123Net has itself a new majority owner. Grain Management LLC has invested in the Michigan regional provider. 123Net has some 3,100 route miles of fiber, a carrier hotel, several data centers, and a significant internet exchange. With Grain’s extensive experience in the sector and 123Net’s deep knowledge of the Rust Belt state, the two seem poised for some interesting expansion plans.
The colo provider DāSTOR has acquired a new location along the busy I-95 corridor. They have acquired the facility at 3 Boulden Circle in New Castle DE. The deal gives them 30,000 square feet of raised floor space to work with in what is a strategic location between the infrastructure centers of Ashburn and New York. DāSTOR also has a location in nearby Wilmington as well as three in the Philadelphia metro area.
Windstream Wholesale has expanded its fiber footprint further down in Georgia. They have added the data centers of Ascent at 4905 North Point Parkway and Stack at 320 Webb Bridge Road in Alpharetta to their network. The expansion is driven by the needs of an unnamed financial solutions provider customer, but likely also opens up other potential opportunities in the Atlanta metro area.
And Montana Internet is celebrating its 30th birthday with an expansion of its FTTH footprint across parts of Lewis & Clark County near the state capitol of Helena. More specifically, they will be expanding on a recent buildout between Fox Ridge Golf Course and Collins Drive to reach Helena’s Northeast Valley. There they have their eye on connecting hundreds of homes and businesses along Lincoln Road.
