One M&A, one new solution, and two infrastructure projects:
NTT will be building a new data center in Bangkok, Thailand. Through NTT Global Data Centers they are investing $90M or so to build Bangkok 3 Data Center, or BKK3, which will provide 12MW and 4,000 square meters of IT capacity with support up to 30kW per rack. NTT has been investing in its data center infrastructure across southeast Asia over the last few years, including Indonesia and Malaysia.
Nitel has made a significant inorganic move. The Network-as-a-Service provider has acquired WAN Dynamics, a Cleveland based specialist in SD-WAN and managed network services. The deal will add depth to Nitel’s managed services capabilities and bring additional talent on board. Nitel is backed by the private equity guys at Cinven, which invested in the company a couple years ago.
CMC Networks has launched a new fixed wireless capability down in South Africa. Their Air Connnect solution is targeted at enterprises and businesses that they can’t yet reach via fiber, crossing a variety of terrain to offer speeds up to 500Mbps. CMC Networks is being bought by center3, which is a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s stc Group.
And STACK Infrastructure has broken ground on its latest project. They are expanding their SVY01 campus in Silicon Valley, adding 60MW of new capacity. That will bring the campus total to 100MW across 19 acres, and will add two data centers, a manufacturing facility, and a parking structure. The expansion will add some mixed-use jobs long term to the San Jose area, and STACK is working with PG&E to develop new power infrastructure for future use as well.
