Metro Roundup: Comcast Business, Boldyn, Zayo, Bluebird

March 7th, 2024 by · Leave a Comment

One M&A, one contract win, one technology partnership, and a leadership change:

Comcast Business has picked up some public transportation business in New Jersey. NJ TRANSIT will be using their Ethernet and internet solutions across the state and in adjacent bits of New York and Pennsylvania. The connectivity upgrade will support both internal operations and public WiFi for those on the move.

Boldyn Networks has made another inorganic move. The infrastructure provider is acquiring Apogee Telecom, which targets the education vertical. Apogee served some 350 customers, handling outsourced on-campus connectivity for students. That sort of dense, complex, specialty environmnet seems to fit pretty well with Boldyn’s other infrastructure projects.

Zayo is expanding its presence at the managed edge with the help of Netskope. They are deploying Netskope’s SASE technology alongside their existing infrastructure and technology to secure communications from the enterprise to the cloud. Zayo will also be able to add co-hosted gateways to its SD-WAN solutions.

And Bluebird Network has itself a new CEO lined up, and it’s a familiar face. Industry veteran Jason Adkins will take the helm later this month after leading Unite Private Networks up through its recent sale to Cox and integration with Segra. He’ll take over from Michael Morey, who has served in the role for 12 years.
