Four projects from spots around the country to catch up with:

Powerhouse Data Centers is taking the next step toward its second campus down in northern Virginia. They have begun demolition of the former AOL headquarters to make room for PowerHouse Pacific, their next hyperscale project. Plans call for 3 buildings on the site totalling 1.2M square feet of space and a new power substation. The demolition is expected to be complete by early next year, with the substation being built next summer followed by the first of the three data centers.

Flexential has lined up a tenant for two of its colo facilities. The cloud provider CoreWeave will be expanding its footprint with space in Flexential data centers in both Hillsboro OR and in Douglasville GA. CoreWeave is buildout out more high density capacity aimed at AI and other demanding workloads, and Flexential will be providing aoms 18MW to them between the two locations as well as support for InfiniBand at 3600Gbps.

Lumos Networks is working with Calix down in North Carolina’s Guilford County. They’ve been selected by the Technology and Digital Institute as broadband partner for a ‘Borderless Classrom’ pilot in the Guilford County school system. The program will target three schools in High Point NC initially, bringing a minimum of 100Mbps x 20Mbps by this autumn. Lumos is leveraging Calix’s SmartTown managed service platform.

And Spectrum Enterprise has picked up some business in the hospitality space. Historic Hotels of America has named the division of Charter Communications as an Alliance Partner. The arrangement will enable Spectrum to serve bandwidth to the hotels around the country with ties to historical events and personalities. Historic Hotels of America is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and to be on the list a hotel must be 50+ years old, a designated landmark or historical place, and be, you know, historic. Some 300 locations in 44 states are on the list.
