Regional Bytes: Veea, Lightpath, Conterra, Proximity

Multiple items with a regional focus to catch up with from the infrastructure space:

Veea says that Trilogy Networks has incorporated its connectivity and edge computing platform into its FarmGrid platform up in North Dakota. The move is in support of the Dakota Innovation Corridor Project, which aggregates infrastructure for 25 large family-owned farms spanning 150,000 cres west of Fargo. The farms will each have access to AI-powered image processing, soil analytics, and monitoring aimed at enabling automation and information growers can use to decide what to grow where and how.

Lightpath has assembled some cloud on-ramps for its fiber networks. Yesterday they added direct fiber connectivity for Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute, which follows closely on last week’s similar announcement with respect to Amazon AWS. In both cases they are moving to better serve enterprises within their footprints who need to connect to assets within the giant public clouds, offering them up to 10G Ethernet and 100G wavelength connectivity. The Azure capability is available in Secaucus NJ, Ashburn VA, and soon in Miami, while AWS adds Boston as well to that list.

Also looking to add cloud on-ramps to their ecosystem is Conterra Networks. They have expanded their infrastructure with connectivity into Equinix Fabric. Their education, government, and enterprise customers across their multiple regions will be better able to connecti multi-cloud initiatives by reaching into Equinix’s ecosystem.

And over in the UK, Proximity Data Centres has lined up a new network partner at the edge. The wholesale fiber operator ATI Fibrenet has connected the company’s Birmingham edge location to its network, and will resell colo services there. I haven’t run into ATI Fibrenet before, but they focus on bespoke dark fiber for hyperscalers and other larger infrastructure players.
