Yesterday we had a bit of consolidation out at the edge. DartPoints has acquired Venyu, a data center and cloud services provider based in Louisiana. The deal brings DartPoints an additional three data centers, giving them 11 in total. Two of those additional carrier neutral data centers are located in Baton Rouge and the third in Shreveport, giving DartPoints its first foothold in the region. The company now operates 11 facilities in 10 markets, with a presence in Indiana, Ohio, Louisiana and the Carolinas.

We had DartPoints CEO Scott Willis on here a couple years ago for an interview, where he outlined the company’s plans for edge infrastructure and interconnection. The vision has evolved somewhat , but since then they have added new markets and developed an IX capability, running BridgeIX in Columbia SC. With this inorganic move, the company may be ready to take its proposition to other markets as well.
