A fiber network expansion and three vendor portfolio expansions:

Ritter Communications has found another target market for its metro fiber network expansion. They have moved into Dyersburg TN, a city about an hour north by northwest along the Mississippi from Memphis. Ritter will spend some $2.5M to bring XGS-PON to the area, targeting businesses, schools, and other community destinations.

STL has boosted its optical fibre portfolio with a new, slimmer option. They have introduced 180 micron fibers, enabling the higher densities necessary to support next generation networks. STL recently showcased a microcable with 288 fibers that fits in an 8mm duct.

Ciena has launched a purpose-built router aimed at the converged metro. Their new WaveRouter product can scale up to 192Tbps, which will enable network operators to meet growing demand within metro network footprints. Ciena’s solution leverages its Wavelogic coherent optics and and related software, optimized for a metro context.

Versa Networks is taking its cloud-based Zero Trust security to the campus and branch. It’s the next piece of Versa’s SASE portfolio, leveraging what is working for remote employees back into the workplace itself. The best ways to balance a hybrid workforce’s efficiency and security continue to evolve in within the SASE world.
