Aligned Data Centers is taking on some major new geographical reach with the planned acquisition of ODATA. The purchase will give Aligned a significant hyperscale presence in Latin America right off the bat, with more already under construction.
ODATA operates data center infrastructure in four major markets. They have two facilities in São Paolo, Brazil with another underway and are working on a fourth over in Rio de Janeiro. They have one in Santiago, Chile with another under construction, and one each in Bogota and the Mexican state of Querétaro. Aligned will leverage the ODATA management team’s expertise in building and operating assets in the region, with an eye toward additional expansion projects.
Aligned is majority-owned by Macquarie Asset Management, while ODATA will be purchased from Patria Investments and other investors. Meanwhile, Aligned will also receive a structured minority investment in ODATA from SDC Capital Partners.
