Uniti Adds a Pair of Longhaul Routes

October 13th, 2022 by · Leave a Comment

Uniti Group is investing in its intercity fiber network with two new lit routes. The plans call for 100G and 400G wavelength services as well as spectrum services on the new Dallas-Atlanta and Atlanta/Ashburn routes.

The new routes have two on-ramps in each market. In Dallas they are 1950 N. Stemmons Fwy and 2323 Bryan St. In Atlanta they are 250 Williams St NW and 56 Marietta St NW. And on the Virginia/DC end they are at 21715 Filigree Ct and 1275 K St NW in DC. Along the way, Uniti’s new routes will offer add/drop in Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Richmond.

In combination with the lit route they launched from Miami to Tampa Uniti moved into the wavelength and spectrum business just over a year ago, starting out across portions of the company’s Florida network with extensions to Atlanta. Extending that capability to the west and north makes plenty of sense, and we can probably expect them to add additional such wavelength/spectrum routes to their portfolio going forward.
