A new strategy launch, a deal closing, a bit of hockey, and some M&A:
DartPoints has kicked off the next stage of its campaign to transform the data center edge. Their new ‘Digital Next’ strategy combines its IX, colo, and managed services into a unified set of solutions. The company also said it has completed the integration of Immedion and Metro Data Centers, which it acquired over the last year and a half. Dartpoints is planning the next phase of expansion of its footprint this year via a combined organic/inorganic strategy.
Involta is officially in new hands this week. Carlyle’s purchase of the company from M/C Partners has officially closed. Involta offers hybrid IT and infrastructure consulting services to the enterprise marketplace. The acquisition also gives Involta the financing necessary to continue its growth trends.
Telstra is delving into a sport not often associated with its home turf down under, namely ice hockey. Telstra has signed a 5 year agreement with the National Hockey League to distribute 1,400 games per year to rights-holders around the world via its Global Media Network. The partnership with the NHL specifically targets viewers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa with plans for other markets also in the works.
And just this morning, KKR is giving up its 40% stake in Telxius. Pontel, a JV between Telefonica and the owner of fashion retailer Zara, will be acquiring KKR’s position in the division for €216M. As part of the deal, Amancio Ortega’s Pontegadea will increase its stake in the JV from 9.99% up to 30%. Telefonica sold off a stake Telxius to KKR a five years ago, partially spinning off its subsea and tower business. The tower business was sold to American Tower last year.
