More Fiber for Lightpath in Boston

November 9th, 2021 by · Leave a Comment

Lightpath is following up on its inorganic entry into Boston with an organic expansion plan. Over the summer Lightpath acquired several assets in the Boston metro area for a starting footprint of some 80 route miles.

The new expansion will add 50 route miles to that total, building out to the west and northwest. Specifically, Lightpath has added a second diverse route between Boston and Lowell while adding depth in Bedford, Burlington, and Waltham.  Now on-net will be the data centers at 55 Middlesex Turnpike in Bedford and 115 2nd Avenue in Waltham. They have also added network density in the Longwood Medical area of Boston itself.

Lightpath is owned by Altice USA and Morgan Stanley, the latter of which bought a 49.99% stake last winter. Since then Lightpath has started looking beyond the Altice cable footprint in the NYC metro area to additional opportunities in the northeastern US.
