Friday Roundup: Lincoln Rackhouse, Schneider Electric, Telarus, ADTRAN

An inorganic data center move, an edge partnership, some channel news, and some XGS-PON:

Lincoln Rackhouse has made its first inorganic move beyond the borders of the USA. The data center division of Lincoln Property Co has teamed up with Sprott Korea to acquire a 145,000 square foot data center in the UK town of Camberley. That’s about 50km southwest of London, south and a bit west even of Slough. It’s a sale-leaseback transaction with a ‘Fortune 100 financial institution’, which means they are starting out with an anchor customer taking 50% of the space.

Schneider Electric said today that it has forged a partnership with Edge Presence and Accu-Tech out at the network edge. The three will team up in deploying EdgePresence edge PoP data centers, leveraging Schneider’s Electric EcoStruxture technology with the assistance of IT distributer AccuTech. EdgePresence is just getting started with its rollout, and expects to deploy multiple sites in 2021 as it attempts to prove its solution to the problem of scaling at the edge.

Telia Carrier is looking to improve its channel options. This week they expanded their relationship with the master agent Telarus. Telarus will be bringing Telia Carrier’s IP transit, Cloud Connect, DDoS Mitigation, and Ethernet services to its network in Canada and the UK. The deal expands on an existing relationship in the USA of course. Telia recently agreed to sell Telia Carrier to Polhem Infra, so the division is looking to expand its relationship reach in lots of directions I’d say.

And ADTRAN’s technology has picked up a convert out in Southern California for its latest technology. Impulse Advanced Communications is deploying the vendor’s TA5000 fiber access platform in order to bring 10G XGS-PON business services to market in Santa Barbara County. The CLEC will be delivering both XGS-PON and GPON over the same infrastructure, thus saving costs as it continues to shift toward fiber-based services.
