Here are few items from around the globe to catch up on:
CyrusOne has another network tenant over in Europe. Relined has extended its dark fiber network into the company’s Amsterdam I facility in the Netherlands. Relined operates 30,000 route kilometers of infrastructure in the Netherlands and Germany, and has more than 30 data centers in the Amsterdam metro area on-net. CyrusOne’s facility will at full builout feature 320K square feet and 72MW.
Europe now has a new internet exchange: ManxIX. ManxIX is located on the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. It’s a rather unique location, politically and geographically speaking, that stands independent from the UK and the EU in many key ways, making it a haven for the financial industry historically and more recently the gaming sector. The nonprofit IX was founded by Bluewave CEO Adam Beaumont and MD Shelley Langan-Newton.
Orange Business Services has won an extended contract with ZIM Integrated Shipping. The global container shipping giant is using Orange’s cloud-based contact center and collaboration services, as well as various network and UC services. ZIM uses those services to manage it’s globally distributed assets and customer base, which is just the kind of customer Orange Business does well with.
And ADVA has won a new convert to its packet edge gear down under. Telstra Wholesale is deploying their FSP 150 packet edge with LTE backup technology to deliver a new Ethernet Access service with mobile backup. The idea is to provide uninterrupted service to enterprises in the event that the wired network goes down without spending for mostly-idle fiber diversity.
