Fresh off a significant contract win at the Department of the Interior, CenturyLink yesterday announced another significant federal contract. They have won a DoD deal as well.
CenturyLink will be providing secure connectivity and other IT services to the Department of Defense Education Activity’s learning network. The award comes under the GSA’s EIS program, which CenturyLink won the authority to operate under last March. It’s a one-year deal with 12 more optional serving 85+ locations.
So what is the DoDEA then? It’s the school system serving some 70K children of civilian and military personnel at or near bases around the world. It operates 163 K-12 schools in 8 districts spanning 11 countries, 7 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. And those schools need bandwidth just like any other.
