Some expansion, some funding for expansion, and some consolidation with the funding folks:

Unite Private Networks is planning to invest further in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They will be expanding their metro network to within reach of some 10,500 near-net locations in the city. UPN got into Albuquerque via CenturyLink’s divestment of Level 3’s footprint there last year, and subsqeuently built out additional network for the Albuquerque Public School system.

Dark Fiber & Infrastructure has raised some more funding for its expansion in the DC Metro area. With its conduit buildout in northern Virginia complete and the Potomac River Crossing in place, they are now in a position to hook up customers in Maryland to key data center locations in Ashburn. DF&I closed its new financing round with CityFront Parnters.

And there was some interesting consolidation with the money guys yesterday. Colony Capital has acquired Digital Bridge Holdings for $325M. Digital Bridge owns DataBank, ExteNet, Vantage, and s selection of tower assets, and of course is Colony’s partner in Digital Colony’s piece of the Zayo acquisition announced in May. As part of the deal, Digital Bridge CEO Marc Ganzi will take over as CEO of Colony, while Colony Capital CEO Thomas Barrack, Jr. will move back to the board as Executive Chairman.
