Windstream Unifies Its Enterprise Portals

January 15th, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

The enteprise division of Windstream has been busily tuning its approach to the market, and today they lifted the curtain on a new portal, WE Connect.

The launch is the culmination of a pile of integration work between the enterprise businesses of EarthLink, Broadview, and earlier Windstream efforts. The idea is to take the best of each of those companies’ portals, putting things like SD-WAN, UCaaS, and security on the elusive ‘single pane of glass’ using modern interface design.

The rise of SDN and DevOps in the world of telecom and internet infrastructure has provided the opportunity for many providers to reboot the customer experience, especially at the enterprise and wholesale levels. It’s come a long way from the days of a few hours on hold with your local RBOC followed by the scheduling of a truck roll.  Windstream’s new portal will see continuous upgrades in response to new technologies and customer needs.

Windstream Enterprise has been moving quickly to gain SD-WAN marketshare, aggressively both targeting new customers and migrating existing MPLS customers, and now have over 1600 distinct customers for the product. They have passed 500K UCaaS seats as well, and are definitely finding momentum with nextgen products.

Windstream’s broader business is still looking for the balancing point though, and has been selling off non-core assets to refocus its efforts. Most recently they sold fiber assets in Minnesota and Nebraska to Arvig and the EarthLink consumer business to Trive Capital.
