Orange Seeds Its Cloud With Basefarm Buy

July 17th, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

There has been some interesting consolidation in the cloud space over in Europe this week, as one of the continent’s largest network operators has made another move to augment its capabilities in cloud-based infrastructure. Orange Business Services has agreed to acquire Basefarm Holding.

Basefarm generates over €100M in revenue from a mix of infrastructure, and data management and analysis. Their strongest presence is in Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria, and have been very active in Big Data and AI.

Orange is spending €350M on the purchase, which follows another recent buy of Business & Decision. They’ll be looking to take Basefarm’s Big Data capabilities to the broader global market. The deal is expected to close in Q3 of this year.
